I am Roger Ngo, and I'm a Software Engineer living in California.

  • Major interest in web technologies and systems programming.
  • I am the guy on the right. I have a small family, and a proud husband and dad. :)
  • I really, really, and I mean really wanted to play basketball in the NBA growing up. Too bad I never played organized basketball, I never grew taller than 5'11". :(

Bio

I've been in the Silicon Valley for a long time now. Say what you want about it, but it can be pretty nice. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.Sc in Computer Science. I also graduated from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a M.S. in Computer Science.

I've always been really interested in computers since I was very young, and have been programming since a teenager. I used to be very interested in game development, and played a lot of video games. Nowadays, I just like hearing people talk about it and watching it.

I write code, and I write a lot of it. Some of it good, and some of it not-so much, but I have a lot of fun doing it. That's what matters, right?

I also love to write, and so, this is what this blog is for.

  • What's your tech stack for this website?
    • It's a Next.js app, with TypeScript, and SCSS.
  • Why a blog?
    • Why not, a blog?
  • Are you looking for any work? If so, are you willing to relocate?
    • I will be interested in any interesting opportunities. I am not willing to relocate at this time, and prefer to work remotely.
  • What's your favorite programming language?
    • I like JavaScript, but I also like Go. I also like Python, and C#. Wait can you tell now? I just love programming!!!
  • What computer do you use?
    • My desktop is an Intel i9-12900K, 128GB DDR4 RAM, and an Arc A770. I used to have an RTX 4090, but I sold it. My laptop is a MacBook Pro M3 Max. It's a good laptop. I do all my recording, training, etc on another desktop PC. It's a 6 core Intel with an RTX 2070 SUPER running Arch Linux.
  • What's your favorite text editor?
    • I use vim.
